A two year-old girl was struck by a car  Tuesday morning when she was running across the Food City parking lot.

The driver was traveling westbound on the parking lot and into a parking space, said Marcus Gonzalez, spokesman for the Douglas Police Department. The accident occurred at about 7:38 a.m.

Douglas paramedics at the scene attended to the little girl. She was transported by ambulance to Southeast Arizona Medical Center, where she was air-evacuated by helicopter to University Medical Center in Tucson. As of yet, her injuries are still unknown to the police department or the Douglas Dispatch.

No citations have been issued. The investigation is continuing, Gonzalez said.
