BP arrests 53 migrants

Border Patrol agents apprehended 53 migrants west of Douglas.


Border Patrol camera operators detected a large group of people approaching the fence from Mexico, which gave the agents time to coordinate an arrest strategy.

Agents from both the Douglas and Naco stations, along with a helicopter form Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine.

As the migrants crossed the border, the agents quickly arrested them. The group, all from Mexico,  consisted of 46 men and seven women. They were processed at the Douglas station and returned to Mexico.

Agents in the Tucson sector have arrested 41,515 migrants during the first three months of fiscal year 2009, which begins in Oct. 2008 and end Dec. 2008
