Don’t have time to read? Make time by listening to some of your favorite books available through the Douglas Library.

“Library patrons now have access to OCLC NetLibrary eAudiobooks through the Library’s website,” said Victoria Yarbrough, Director of the Douglas Public Library.

Over 2,200 different titles are now available to download for free to anyone with a personal computer or portable audio player anytime, anywhere, she said.

The core collection of NetLibrary eAudiobooks includes children’s, young adult, and adult audiobooks with new titles added each month.

All genres are available from history, arts and entertainment, biography, business, horror and humor to popular fiction and nonfiction, self-help, romance, science, westerns and even study aids.

Works from notable authors who regularly appear among the top 15 works on the New York Times’ Hardcover Bestseller List, such as Dan Brown, Patricia Cornwell, Alexander McCall Smith, Carl Hiaasen, Elizabeth Peters, Nevada Barr, Pat Conroy, and more, are all included in this new collection.

“Just type a keyword search for ‘downloadable audio books’ into the library’s online catalog to see a complete list of available titles,” Yarbrough said.

eAudiobooks can be downloaded or played on any desktop, laptop or portable device that supports Windows Media Player version 11.  Apple iPods are not compatible with NetLibrary at this time but there will be iPod compatible titles in the system within the next few months.

eAudiobooks can be checked out from the library or from a personal computer via the library’s website, 24/7.  Users must have a library card and know their library PIN number.

Patrons may check out up to 10 eAudiobooks at a time and they are automatically returned to the library at the end of the checkout period. The best part is that there are never any overdue fines with NetLibrary eAudiobooks.

“This is a wonderful free service newly available to anyone with a Cochise County library card,” Yarbrough said. “I would highly encourage everyone to use this new service, download as many audiobooks as you can, and please contact the library if you’d like more information or need assistance.”

For more information call 417-7357. The library is located at 560 10th Street.

Library cards are available for free with photo identification and proof of address to any resident of Cochise County or Sonora, Mexico.
