Adalberto Valencia - “Big Al,” “Tata Bert”

Adalberto “Big Al”-“Tata Bert” was born December 3, 1942, and passed away on January 14, 2009 in Douglas, AZ.


Surviving Tata Bert is his loving wife Rosemary Valencia   of 45 years of marriage.

Surviving also are his son Adalberto (Guadalupe) Valencia Jr. and daughters Cecilia Valencia, Sandra (Ken) Nelson, Luisa (Frank) Sin, Angelica (Ricky) Verdugo. He also leaves behind his brothers John Valencia, Salvador Valencia and sisters Evangelina Valencia, Petra Navarro, and Hortencia Durazo.

Tata Bert was the proud grand father of 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Big Al worked for the Douglas Public Schools for over 30 years. He was well known and loved in the community. He will be dearly missed.

Rosary was Friday, January 16, 2009-7:00 p.m. in the main chapel of Adair Douglas Funeral Chapel, with Deacon Rudy Navarro. Mass of the Resurrection was Saturday, January 17, 2009 at Immaculate Conception Church, with Fr. Armando Espinoza officiating.

 Following the mass Big Al was laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers were Emilio Valencia Jr., Victoriano Higuera, Ricky Verdugo Jr., Frank Sin, Lamberto Vasquez, and Salvador Valencia Jr., Serving as Honorary-Pallbearers were Victor Altamirano, Mark Lopez, Hector Martinez, Yayi Sin, Ken Nelson, Adalberto Valencia Jr., Vicente Cardona, Jr., Francisco Quintana, and John Valencia.

Care entrusted to Adair Douglas Funeral Chapel, 364-2121, Funeral Director Alex Espinosa.
