Early Learning Center News Briefs

Our news:


This Wednesday, February 11th the AM classes were canceled due to the teachers attending a workshop.

Next week on Monday, February 16th school will not be in session it’s President’s Day.

If your child is between the ages of 3 years to kindergarten age and you have concerns regarding their development or performance in one or more of the following areas: vision and hearing, motor control/coordination, behavior/social skills, speech/language skills or thinking/performing tasks, please contact the Special Service Office @ 364-2447 ex5000 or 364-8473 to schedule an appointment for a Child Find Screening. Screenings are conducted on a monthly or bi-weekly basis depending on the need and are held at the Early Learning Center. Our next Child Find Screening will be Friday, February 13th 2009.

For children kindergarten age through 21 years, please contact your local school and ask to speak with your child’s teacher and/or the special education teacher regarding your concerns.

Ms. M Hernandez and Ms. Alma – 4 year olds

We started with the color pink and the shape; heart. We read the story “Lets Be Friends”. We made a project about my special friend, we also played the game matching the numbers.

Ms. Minerva and Mr. Jesus – 4 year olds

Monday- Theme of the week was “Friendship”. Students painted paper bags red and pink to use as their Valentine bag. Then they decorated it with various Valentine theme cut outs. Students also took a picture with their special friend and placed it on a heart cut out to be placed on our bulletin board. Tuesday- Students continued to decorate their Valentine bags. Wednesday- Students made a friendship bracelet for their special friend. They used a variety of beads to do them. Thursday- Students had their “Friendship” celebration. They passed out their Valentine cards to all their friends.

Ms. Diana and Ms. Elena– 4 year olds

This week we are learning about “friendship” Why do we have friends? What do friends do together? How many friends do you have? Different relationships between people, etc. The children will trace and cut their hand using the “I love you sign” in sign language they also put a heart in between the fingers that says “I love you” and decorated it with a picture of themselves. Children will also decorate a box for their valentine cards, using paper to wrap it and different kinds or hearts. They will also put their heart doggy that they did last week. Also they will make a lollipop valentines card to give to someone they love we will have a friendship party on Thursday  from 10:00-10:50 A.M. and from 2:00 -2:50 p.m. Thank you

We will be doing the _High Hat- “Eddy Elf” in all the classrooms.
