" It is my understanding that the administrator was BUSY taking care of the situation as soon as the teacher removed the weapon from the child's possession. I believe that parents were notified in a timely manner. Yes, notices were received after school, but this is usually when parents receive correspondence from the school, isn't it? "

" Sure the gun was unloaded, but why weren't the parents notified of this incident until the next day! Makes me wonder if the Administrator really followed policy! "

" I was shocked when my child came home that day and told me about the classmate with the gun. What I was even more shocked at is that the school hadn't informed us sooner and that it took until after school the next day to get a letter home from the school stating what had happened. We parents should have been notified the same day especially in order to help our children who may have had numerous questions or false information about it. Schools need to work with the families to help us give our children accurate information so that they can feel safe at school. What some children thought was fake turned out to be a .22, thankfully unloaded but still a real gun that had really ugly potential. Hopefully the district and the principal learned a lot from their mistakes in handling this incident. Details are sketchy for parents too. Where did this kid get a gun? "
