Vivienne Ruth Mikkelson

Vivienne Ruth Mikkelson, 83, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2009 in her home in Tucson,  AZ.  She is survived by her sons  Darrel (Diane) Hale of Tolleson, AZ, William (Janet) Byrd of Flagstaff, AZ, Christian Mikkelson of Tucson, AZ, stepson Mark (Laura) Mikkelson of Phoenix, AZ., stepdaughters Jill (Chris) Jarman of Tempe, AZ., and Trudi Mikkelson of Phoenix, AZ.  She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Also her companion dog Kuji. Vivienne is preceded in death by her husband Dr. Clayton Mikkelson, DVM and stepson Mikkel Mikkelson.


Vivienne was born February  6, 1925 in Ajo, AZ. to Edward and Josephine Maddux.  She was the oldest of three children.  The family moved to Douglas, AZ where Vivienne attended elementary and high school.  After graduating from high school, Vivienne worked as a telephone operator at the Army Air Corp base outside of Douglas.  In 1962 she married Clayton Mikkelson and they moved to Phoenix and opened a Veterinary Clinic.  Vivienne worked closely with her husband as office manager of their Veterinary Clinic.  She had a great love of animals and even after retiring in 1995, she continued to share her life with the animals she loved.  Private services were held by the family at Resthaven in Phoenix.  Arrangements by Bring's Broadway Chapel, 6910 E. Broadway, Tucson, AZ.

    " I was so sorry to read about the loss of your Mother. I will always remember her and all the fun times we had as kids. She always welcomed me and Wanda in the house and alowed us to be oursrlves. Hope you are all doing okay and most of all I hope you do remember me. With love to all
