ALFONSO “AL” MORENO

Holy Rosary for Alfonso “Al” Moreno was recited on Wednesday, February 11 at St. Joseph’s Church. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated following the rosary with Fr. Frank Chacon as the celebrant.


On February 6, 2009 Al ascended to sit with our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. His life came to an end in the early morning hours in Gallup, NM working for BNSF Railway, a job he had worked for 15 years.

Al was born on July 11, 1952 in Douglas, AZ.

He is survived by his wife Frances, daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and James Hawks, daughter Alysia Moreno, his two grandsons Jaden James and Jacob Alfonso and his son Danny Moreno.

Survivors in the Moreno family include his brothers and sisters: Cora Ramirez, Carmen (Jesus) Escarcega, Angie Moreno, Olga (Raymond) Martinez, Frank (Christina) Moreno, Julia (Norman) Golihar, Louis (Rita) Moreno and Martin Moreno.

He is also survived by his brothers and sisters of the Gonzalez family: Linda (Anthony) (Duran), Margaret (Sal) Hernandez, Ralph Gonzalez, Vickie (Bill) Ritter, Teresa (Joe) Montoya, Richard Gonzalez, Bobby (Debbie) Gonzales, Patsy Montano, Danny (Missy) Gonzalez, Freddy Gonzalez, and Judy Gonzalez. Other survivors include many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents Emma and Jose Moreno, Ralph and Angela Gonzalez and his brothers Joe and Isaac Moreno and Edward Gonzalez.

Pallbearers were Joe Montoya, Michael Guerrero, George Gollihar, Sal Hernandez, Jr., Eddie Golligar and Ralph Gonzalez.

Interment was at Desert View Cemetery. Arrangements by Greer’s Mortuary of Winslow.
