A failure  to yield kept Douglas Police and Cochise County Sheriff’s Office deputies busy on Monday.

On February 16, 2009 at approximately 8:00 p.m., Douglas Police assisted the Cochise County Sheriff’s Deputies in pursuit of a vehicle failing to yield for the Sheriff’s Deputies.

Police assisted the Sheriff’s Deputies by actively participating in the pursuit of the purple Plymouth Breeze bearing a Sonora license plate.

Police and Sheriff’s Deputies pursued the vehicle from the area of Bay Acres to Douglas and through the streets of Douglas for approximately 12 minutes.

The driver of the vehicle failed to stop for police vehicles with their emergency lights and sirens activated.  The driver eventually stopped his vehicle at the 1000 block alleyway between 6th St. and 7th St. and then fled on foot.

Police chased the suspect through residential yards and eventually apprehended him in a residential yard at 1035 7th St.

Police turned over custody of Sergio Altamirano 5-22-77 to the Cochise County Sheriff’s Deputies for criminal charges of Unlawful Flight from Pursuing Law Enforcement.
