Early Learning Center Report

If your child is between the ages of 3 years to kindergarten age and you have concerns regarding their development or performance in one or more of the following areas: vision and hearing, motor control/coordination, behavior/social skills, speech/language skills or thinking/performing tasks, please contact the Early Learning Center Office @ 364-2447 ex 5000 or 364-8473 to schedule an appointment for a Child Find Screening. Screenings are conducted on a monthly or bi-weekly basis depending on the need; and are held here at the Early Learning Center.  Our next Child Find Screening will be Friday, March 6th.  

For children kindergarten age through 21 years, please contact your local school and ask to speak with your child’s teacher and/or the special education teacher regarding your concerns.

 We will be doing the – High Hat – “Zoo Zoo” in all the classrooms.

Ms. M Hernandez and Ms. Alma – 4 year olds

During this wee we talked about different types of healthy foods.  We read the story “Fruit Salad”.  We also made a strawberry painting project.  We talked about sequence of numbers, and we learned the words “between” meaning the middle and “above” meaning on the top. We also talked bout the triangle, and counted how many corners it has.  

Ms. Susie and Ms. Dalila – 4 year olds

All this week we will be talking about Spring Activities.

Monday -  We read the book “The Tiny Seed”  our activity was to have the students make a flower out of their own hand.  They added stems and leaves and grass to it.

Tuesday - We read the book “The Caterpillar and the Polliwog” our activity was to have the students do a butterfly out of their own feet. They also added a body part out of pipe cleaners.

Wednesday - We read the book “Four Seasons for Little People” and our activity was to make kites out of our shape of the month which is a diamond. They decorated it as they wished.

Thursday -  We will be talking about the process of planting so that when we come back we will be planting a seed and see what they grow.

Friday - No School!!  Have a great weekend!!!  Also don’t forget we will be out for SPRING BREAK from March 9 - March 13.  Have a safe Spring Break and see you guys on Monday March 16.

Ms. Diana and Ms. Elena – 4 year olds

This week we are learning about “spring”.  Children will learn about the changes in weather, temperature, the changes in plants and tress. What animals come out during spring, what baby animals are born during this season, etc?

First the children will make a tissue paper tree, and then they make colorful leaves with cut out leaves and strips of paper form magazines cut out Also they will make blooming flowers in different colors.

Ms. Minerva and Mr. Jesus – 4 year olds

Monday- Students were introduced to the new month, Shape-diamond, color-yellow, Letters-R, S, T, Number- 10. Today was also Dr. Seuss Birthday. The students made a hat from the story “The Cat in the Hat”

Tuesday- Students were introduced to the theme of the week, Opposites. Students made an opposite collage, where they glued to a paper all kinds of cutouts that were opposites. Ex. Black and White, Big and Small.

Wednesday- Students drew a picture of the opposite day and night. On halfof the paper they drew what they did during the day time and other half of the paper they drew what they do at night time.

Thursday- Students dressed a pattern of a body with winter clothes and summer clothes. This showed them about the opposites cold and hot.

Ms. Maria and Ms. Nicole – 4 year olds     

This week we continue learning about community helpers.  The class will write a thank you card to Officer Fullen, who came to speak to the AM class and Officer Gonzales, who came and spoke to the PM class (THANK YOU BOTH!).  Our class will take a field trip to the Douglas  Fire Station on Tuesday to learn about how firefighters help the community.

Wednesday we will have Border Patrol officers talk to the students.  Then on Thursday our class will take a morning field trip to the Douglas Post Office to find out how we get our mail.  The students will continue looking for objects that begin with the first letter of their name and practice writing numbers and counting.
