Nearly  300 pounds of drugs were found during a routine traffic sto in Double Adobe.

On Monday February 23, at approximately 7:30 am, members of the Cochise County Border Alliance Group were conducting a street operation in the Double Adobe Road area when they observed a blue Lincoln Towncar heading northbound.

Border Alliance Group Agents had knowledge that this vehicle had been previously used in suspected drug operations and conducted a traffic stop near Central and Double Adobe Road.

As soon as the vehicle stopped a white male subject and only occupant fled the scene and a local search was not successful in locating him.

The vehicle contained a large bundle in the backseat and additional bundles in the trunk of what appeared to be marijuana.  The vehicle was confiscated and the contents were confirmed to be marijuana with a weight of 298 pounds.

The investigation is being continued by the Border Alliance Group.
