Douglas High School Senior Francisco J. Cruz has been selected for membership in the National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS).

Born in Douglas, Cruz left for a short time before returning to begin fifth grade. Cruz has a perfect 4.0 grade point average, has been involved in the Starfish Club, DECA and has played soccer all four years and was a member of this year’s state champion.
Cruz has already been accepted to the University of Arizona and has received a full tuition scholarship. He will be pursuing a degree in computer engineering.
“Ever since I was 10 years old, I have been fascinated with computers, played with them, fixed them. It has become a passion.”
Cruz is the son of Yolanda and Francisco Cruz and he has a 10-year-old sister, Nahomi, and a 17-year-old step-sister, Andrea.
