Road rage leads to a fistfight, flying chairs and blood at Denny’s restaurant on March 25.

Douglas Police entered the restaurant at about midnight and found blood on the floor, blood on several chairs, tables, rug and walls inside the restaurant.

The incident started when four individuals – Oscar Elias, 9-13-81; Sergio Chavez, 6-20-81; Enrique Chavez, 2-1-85; and Carlos Elias, 9-13-81 – were approached by two other men –George Vega, 4-2-71; and Marcos Aguilar, 6-9-69 – over reportedly cutting them off as they were leaving Bushmasters.

One of the males asked one of the four at the table who was driving a certain vehicle and then the fight began among the individuals. According to Night Shift Manager Martha Gonzalez, all six men were throwing punches, and then some of the individuals began throwing chairs.

As soon as the Douglas Police was called, Vega and Aguilar attempted to leave the Denny’s, but Gonzalez was able to stop them long enough for police to arrive.

One witness said that Vega threw the first punch at Oscar Elias, striking him in the face. That is when the big fight began.

Sergio Chavez sustained injuries to his face.

Since Vega and Aguilar were the aggressors in the incident, they were both arrested for assault and disorderly conduct against Elias and disorderly conduct and criminal damage against Denny’s

Also at the scene was Robert Vega, who said he stayed in the car the entire time, and could not provide any additional information.

Both Robert Vega and Oscar Elias work for the Douglas Fire Department and the incident is still under investigation by the city.
