Early Learning Center On Friday March 27 the Early Learning Center will start to pre-register for the next school year (2009/2010) from 9 to 10:30am and 12 to 2:30pm or by appointment at the Early Learning Center. Your child must be 4 years old by August 31st and fully toilet trained. To register your child you need to bring, 1. Original (State) Certificate, 2. Immunization record, 3. Three proofs of residence, (3 utility bills with your name and address on them) For more information call the Early Learning Center at 364-8473 Ms. Jody Pirtle – Special Ed Teacher If your child is between the ages of 3 years to kindergarten age and you have concerns regarding their development or performance in one or more of the following areas: vision and hearing, motor control/coordination, behavior/social skills, speech/language skills or thinking/performing tasks, please contact the Early Learning Center @ 364-2447 ex5000 or 364-8473 to schedule an appointment for a Child Find Screening. Screenings are conducted on a monthly or bi-weekly basis depending on the need and are held at the Early Learning Center. Our next Child Find Screening will be Friday, March 20th. For children kindergarten age through 21 years, please contact your local school and ask to speak with your child’s teacher and/or the special education teacher regarding your concerns. We will be doing the -High Hat- “Uncle Up” in all the classrooms. Ms. M Hernandez and Ms. Alma – 4 years old This week we are reviewing numbers, letters and the phonetic sounds of words. We are still continuing with the color yellow and the diamond shape. We are talking about nursery rhymes and invited family members to read to our students because March is the month of love of literacy. Ms. Minerva, Mr. Jesus and Ms. Erika – 4 years old Monday- Students were introduced to theme of the week, “Spring” we talked about what happens during spring time and the changes the environment goes through. As an art project students created a butterfly out of their foot prints. Tuesday- Students did a tulip flower out of their hand prints. Wednesday- Students created a kite out of the shape of the month Diamond. They decorated the kite with cut outs and different foam shapes. Thursday- Students planted a flower. We went through all the steps in planting a flower and how it needs to be taken care of. Each week we will see how the flower of each student grows. Ms. Diana, Ms. Elena and Ms. Roberta – 4 years old This week we are celebrating “100 days of school “. Children will be making their 100 year old face, they will also make a 100 days crown with cereal. Children will also cut happy faces from magazines and make a “100 happy faces collage” We will also practice counting with cereal and popcorn. These activities will be in the Math/Science Area.
