AIMS assessments scheduled

Published/Last Modified on Thursday, March 26, 2009 5:10 PM MDT

The AIMS assessments are scheduled throughout Arizona over the next few weeks. AIMS, Arizona’s instruments to Measure Standard, are structured to cover content that is expected to be taught throughout grades three through twelve. That content is based on Arizona Academic Content Standards. The tests measure student proficiency and are required by law. High school students must pass the Reading, Writing, and Mathematics tests to graduate.

High school Mathematics is scheduled to take lace statewide on Wednesday, April 1. Science for students in 9th and 10th grades will be administered on April 2nd. Each school district chooses a five-day window from March 30 through April 17 to administer the AIMS to students in grades 3 through 8.

Home-schooled students are not required by law to test using AIMS. If a home-schooled student’s parent or guardian is interested in having his/her student take the Spring AIMS tests, he/she can contact their local school district office to make arrangements. The Cochise County School Superintendent’s Office is also an available testing site. Each day’s testing at the County School Office will begin promptly at 9:00 A.M. beginning on Monday, March 30th.
