Biology students’ DNA posters on display at Douglas Library

Science in action can be seen at the Douglas Public Library through a series of posters created by the Douglas High School Biology 100 class.


 The project, in Dr. Francis P. Saitta’s Biology classes, involved the construction of a poster representing how DNA replicates itself and directs the synthesis of protein. The posters were judged, in terms of scientific accuracy and creativity, by several faculty at the high school.

The best posters are on display in the Douglas Public Library.

The students are: Andrew Aruizu, Tia Hardin, Judith Velasques, Jose Gastellum, Alexis Figuera, Jeshua Trejo, George Acosta, Itzel Ahumada, Lupita Nieblas, Lupita Alvidrez, Lilian Duran, Alain Figueroa, Andrew Acosta, Royce Ovando, Cori Valencia, Mariah Washington, Crystalum Ketchum and Roger Ramirez.

The students participating were sophomores and the class studied DNA and completed the posters over a three week-period. Four students worked together on each poster.
