Aida Zazueta Alvarado

Aida Zazueta Alvarado, a resident of Douglas, AZ., passed away on April 21, 2009 in Altadena California where she resided for the last four years of her life at the home of her daughter Catalina Luna. 


She was born on June 18, 1914 in Pirtleville  AZ to Juan Zazueta and Maria Guerreo Zazueta.  She was preceded in her death by husband Alberto M. Alvarado, son Arturo Alvarado and two brothers Juan Zazueta and Roberto Zazueta.  She was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel.

She is survived by her four daughters, Delfina (Herminio) Becerra of Tucson, Armida Alvarado of Los Angeles, Connie Alvarado Frietas of Danville, California and Catalina (Alfonso) Luna of Altadena, California, and her nine sons Alberto “Kinky” of Tucson, Alfred (Janice) of Thousand Oaks, California, David of  Oceanside, California, Raul (Carmela) of Inglewood, California, Richard (Issa) of Moreno Valley, California, Rudy (Linda) of Atlanta, Georgia, Cruz (Betty) of West Covina, California, Steven (Yolanda) deceased of Silver City, NM and Armando “Mundi”  (Zarina) of Tucson, Arizona.   She also leaves her 49 grandchildren, 99 Great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren. 

Mrs. Alvarado enjoyed listening to mariachi music, live bands and dancing.  She loved being around her family especially when all of her children and their families were together with her.  She was always dressed for the occasion and loved to have her hair done.  When she would walk into the beauty salon, the hairdresser would say, “Here comes the queen!”   She sang in the church choir at Sacred Heart Catholic Church for many years.  She brought 14 children into the world and was a strong Christian woman. 

When asked by her grand-daughter what the secret was a long and healthy life, she replied, “take care of yourself, don’t worry so much and trust in God”  She was married for 63 years to her late husband Alberto Alvarado.  She loved Baseball and the Dodgers were her favorite team.  She also loved sports and enjoyed watching her sons play baseball.

Visitation will be held from 10am to 5pm on Friday, May 1, 2009 at the Brown Page Mortuary Chapel with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm at the St. Luke’s Catholic Church. A Mass of the Resurrection will be offered at 11:30am on Saturday May 2 also at St. Luke’s Church.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Alfredo Alvarado, David Alvarado, Richard Alvarado, Rudy Alvarado, Steve Alvarado Jr. and Alfonso Luna Jr.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Herminio Becerra, Jeremy Alvarez, Alexander Alvarado, Arturo Alvarado, Lloyd Martinez Jr., and Raul Alvarado.
