Computer error cheats Food City out of 'Excellent' rating

Published/Last Modified on Friday, May 1, 2009 5:12 PM MDT

In the April 29 issue of the Douglas Dispatch, entitled "Restaurant Health Inspections" it stated that the Food City Deli/Restaurant had received an "unsatisfactory" rating, when in fact they had received an "Excellent" rating.

Mike McGee, Environmental Health Director for the Cochise County Health Department, said there was a computer error and the information sent out on the inspections was incorrect for Food City.

According to a letter from Matt Cook from the County Helath Department, he said the information provided on the county website was incorrect.

"I had  inspected Food City's Deli on April 13, and logged the results into the inspection file as "Excellent." I don't know how the result showed up as Unacceptable on our website.

"In fact, Food City's Deli has consistently earned an "Excellent" rating at every one of this department's inspections, for years. Since my computer can't blush, I apologize  for the error that appeared on our website."

" It is a good thing that this is Douglas, where there is not that much competition, this would have cost Food City ALOT of money, causing layoffs. Still there are the ones that won't read this correction. One little mistake can creat BIG outcomes. The computers only recieve what a human puts in to it. "
