Where to call to get answers on the Swine flu

Published/Last Modified on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 5:18 PM MDT

With all recent publicity of the H1N1 Virus aka “Swine Flu”, and the number of questions and concerns rising, the Douglas Police Department, together with local agencies and government, wishes to inform the community on where to call for information.

For information regarding local government and local agencies, such as school closures, port closures, police and medic/fire incidents, please call the new Douglas Police Department local phone number at (520) 417-7550.

For information regarding the actual H1N1 Virus, please call the Arizona Center for Disease Control (CDC) H1N1 Virus Hotline at (800) 232-4636.

For medical and police emergencies, call 9-1-1 immediately.

The Douglas Police Department, along with other local agencies and government reminds you to follow the recommendations made by Health professionals.  If you have any flu-like symptoms, stay home from school or work and contact your physician.  Do not go to an emergency room without your physician’s authorization.  You may also call the Southeast Arizona Medical Center at (520) 364-7931 for recommendations.  Though this situation is a cause for concern, it should not be a cause for panic or extreme precaution.  Unless flu-like symptoms are present we urge you to resume your normal, every-day routines.
