Countywide average gas price up

According to the Cochise College Center for Economic Research’s latest biweekly survey of gas prices, conducted during the week of May 4, the average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Cochise County increased slightly from $1.98 to $1.99 over the two-week period. According to AAA Arizona, the statewide price went up from $1.91 to $1.94 per gallon. Nationally, according to the Energy Information Administration, gas prices increased from $2.06 to $2.08 during the two-week period.


In Benson, the price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline increased from $2.07 to $2.09. In Bisbee, the price went up during the two-week period from $2.04 to $2.06 per gallon. The price in Douglas increased from $1.98 to $2.01 per gallon. In Huachuca City, the price went down slightly from $1.98 to $1.97 per gallon. In Sierra Vista, the price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline increased from $1.91 to $1.94. In Tombstone, the price decreased during the two-week period from $1.96 to $1.92 per gallon. Willcox saw gas prices decrease from $1.99 to $1.96 per gallon during the two-week period.

One year ago, the nationwide average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline, according to the EIA, was $3.61, which is $1.53 higher than its current price. At the state level, according to AAA Arizona, the price a year ago was $3.45, which is $1.51 higher than the current price per gallon. At the county level, according to the CER survey, the price a year ago was $3.50, which is $1.51 higher than the price from the most recent survey.
