BISBEE — A Border Patrol agent working near Douglas on Tuesday arrested four illegal immigrants who were later discovered to be burglary suspects, according to the federal agency.

The agent responded to a report of four illegal immigrants near Rockspring Road, east of Douglas, the Border Patrol said in a news release. All four individuals were found to be Mexican nationals.

Shortly after, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office requested Border Patrol assistance in locating four people who had recently burglarized a home on Sentinel Road in Douglas.

Officials determined the four subjects previously arrested by Border Patrol also were the burglary suspects.

The illegal immigrants were transported to the Douglas Border Patrol station and charged with illegal entry. They will be turned over to the Sheriff’s Office for further processing.
