During its June 10 meeting, the Douglas City Council tentatively approved a $34.3 million budget which is a small increase over its expenditures this budget year.

In other action, the city council:
• Approved a bid from SQP Construction for the installment of New Southwest Sewer Interceptor, Phase I from Customs/J Avenue to the intersection of 3rd Street and North Douglas Avenue in the amount of $258,128.
• Approved a bid submitted by Intermedix for Emergency Medical Service billing for the city of Douglas sin the amount of $36,000.
• Approved a bid submitted buy Bug Wiser for general pest control for $3,828.
• Approved a bid proposal submitted by Legend Technical Services of Arizona for Water Testing and Sampling, Documentation and Administration.
• Approved a bid submitted by Ferguson and HD Supply Waterworks for construction materials and Dana Kepner for sense meters.
• Approved a bid submitted by Maddux & Sons for all. Rock materials.
• Approved a bid submitted by Western Emulsion for asphalt material, Mesa materials for cold mix, and for hot mix.
• Approved a bid from Border Mart for Fuel service.
• Approved a bid from Friends Cleaning Services for the purchase of janitorial services.
• Approved third reading of an ordinance by modifying the effective year of the fee schedule to correct an omission in Sections 2 and 3 and by amending language in Section 4pertainign to the effective date of the Sanitation fees and establishing an effective date.
• Approved a third reading of Ordinance 09-961 authorizing the city to lease to Catholic Community Services a western portion of the Douglas Municipal Airport including a red brick building located on 10th Street and Airport Road.
• Approved a third reading of Ordinance 09-963 amending the Douglas Municipal Code relating to animals by amending Ordinance 787. The motion passed 4-3 after the total number of dogs allowed on a property before making it a kennel to two dogs.
• Approved a second reading of an ordinance 09-965 executing a lease agreement between the city and RPT, LLC to provide fixed base operator services at the Douglas Municipal Airport.
• Approved the first reading of Ordinance 09-967 suspending the $20 processing fee for sidewalk sales do2w3ntown and declaring an emergency.
• Approved a first reading of Ordinance 09-968authorizing the execution of a two-year lease between the city and Homeland Security for a surveillance camera facility on property owned by the city.
• Approved a resolution establishing a program coordinating committee for the city of Douglas Public Housing Authority’s Family Self Sufficiency (FSS) program.
• Approved a resolution for an application from the Douglas Public Library for grant funds in the amount of $26,000 from the Tohono O’Odham Nation to continue computer instruction and GED instructional courses through the library for the benefit of the community.
• Approved a resolution authorizing the city to submit a grant application to the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety for a reimbursable grant in the amount of $50,967 for the purchase of two motorcycles and training.
• Approve a resolution authorizing the contract between the city and Currier Construction for serviced to be performed at the City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant to conform and comply with the pending ADEQ consent order of that facility.
• Approved a resolution authorizing the city to submit a grant application to the Department of Bureau of Justice Assistance as part of the Recovery Act Grant for a reimbursable grant in the amount of $15,923 for the purchase of 35 in-vehicle rifle locks by the City of Douglas Police Department.
