County gas prices continue to rise

According to the Cochise College Center for Economic Research’s latest biweekly survey of gas prices, conducted during the week of June 15, the average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Cochise County increased from $2.37 to $2.54 over the preceding two-week period. According to AAA Arizona, the statewide price went up from $2.41 to $2.66 per gallon. Nationally, according to the Energy Information Administration, gas prices increased from $2.52 to $2.67 during the two-week period.

In Benson, the price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline increased from $2.44 to $2.61. In Bisbee, the price went up during the two-week period from $2.36 to $2.55. The price in Douglas increased from $2.39 to $2.59 per gallon. In Huachuca City, the price rose from $2.43 to $2.50. In Sierra Vista, the price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline increased from $2.33 to $2.51. In Tombstone, the price climbed during the two-week period from $2.32 to $2.65. Willcox saw gas prices increase from $2.33 to $2.48 during the two-week period.

One year ago, the nationwide average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline, according to the EIA, was $4.08, which is $1.41 higher than its current price. At the state level, according to AAA Arizona, the price a year ago was $4.09, which is $1.43 higher than the current price per gallon. At the county level, according to the CER survey, the price a year ago was $3.96, which is $1.42 higher than the price from the most recent survey.
