Douglas man caught with 39 lbs of meth A Douglas man was caught with methamphetamine and cocaine during a stop by the Department of Public Safety On June 14, at about 11:48 a.m., a Department of Public Safety (DPS) Canine Officer stopped a 2007 Chevrolet passenger vehicle on westbound Interstate 10 at milepost 289 (approximately 27 miles east of Tucson for a traffic violation. Following the stop, a search revealed hidden compartments in the vehicle. The officer located 26 packages of methamphetamine with a combined weight of 39 pounds and one package of cocaine which weighed 2.2 pounds. The estimated street value of the methamphetamine is $780,000. The estimated street value of the cocaine is $26,000. Arrested was Carlos Buelna, 42, of Douglas.He has been charged with Possession of a dangerous drug for sale (methamphetamine; Transportation of methamphetamine for sale; Possession of a narcotic drug for sale (cocaine); and Transportation of a narcotic drug for sale Buelna was booked into the Pima County Jail. From January to June of 2009 DPS officers have seized approximately 46 pounds of methamphetamine and 101 pounds of cocaine.
