Plans underway for Relay for Life

Plans are underway for the 2009 Relay for Life of Douglas – Cartooning 4 a Cure.  This year’s event will take place on Saturday, October 3, 2009, through Sunday, October 4, 2009, beginning at 10:00 A.M. at the Douglas Copper King Baseball Stadium.

What is Relay for Life?  Relay is more than a walk around a track – it is a life changing event that brings together more than 3.5 million people to: celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost to the disease, and fight back against a disease that takes too much.

Relay is a community event that represents the HOPE that those lost to cancer will never be forgotten, those fighting the disease will be supported and that one day cancer will be eliminated.

“The vital research and programs of the American Cancer Society are leading the way to eliminating cancer as a major health problem.  More funds raised translate into more lives saved” said event organizers.

The public is invited to attend the next meeting/training to be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at the Douglas Visitor’s Center, 345 16th Street, beginning at 6:00 P.M.

Please RSVP no later than Monday, June 29, 2009, to  HYPERLINK"mailto:douglasrfl@hotmail.com"  or douglasrfl@hotmail.com.

The American Cancer Society is dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by saving lives, diminishing suffering and preventing cancer through research, education, advocacy and service.
