Mellony Roll left this life surrounded by her loving family in Del Rio, TX on Thursday, July 9, 2009.


She fought a valiant battle against cancer that ended her time with us far too soon. Through it all she  never lost her sense of humor and her generous and loving spirit.

Mellony was born October 16, 1955 in Willcox, AZ where she lived much of her life, with times in Fairbanks, Alaska and Tucson and Bisbee, AZ. Her work with the National Park Service took her to Del Rio in 2007.

Mellony is survived by her husband Rogers Steed, Del Rio, TX; her sons Sam and Isaac Roll, Phoenix, AZ; stepchildren Will and Terra Steed, Reserve NM; her sister Rebecca Orozco, Bisbee, AZ; her brother Paul (Paula) Blanke, Willcox, AZ; and her father Raymond Blanke, Willcox, AZ. Condolences may be sent to Rogers Steed, 1012 Pike Road, Del Rio, TX 78840 (830.422.2542) and the Blanke family at 1354 N. A potluck and celebration of her life will be held Saturday, July 25, 2009 at 10:00 am at the El Dorado Community Center near the entrance of Chiricahua National Monument. Flowers may be sent to Paul Blanke at 1354 N. Chastain Lane, Willcox AZ 85643, however the family prefers donations be made in Mellony’s memory to a favorite charity, the American Cancer Society or the Wildland Firefighter Foundation (www.wffoundation.org).
