Signup continues for boys and girls wanting to play in the Douglas Youth Football League.

An estimated 40 kids signed up this past weekend bringing the total to about 80 who have signed up so far.

League president Ken Nelson said some of last years missing equipment has been returned but a lot is still out there and there is a strong possibility some kids may have to go on a waiting list in order to play if the missing equipment can’t be located.

Signups will continue throughout the week by contacting Nelson at 895-2663 or anyone of his other board members.

Practice is scheduled to start Aug. 3 at the 15th Street Park.

Nelson says there will be a public meeting this Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Huber Junior High cafeteria.

Anyone interested in coaching or volunteering in general needs to be at this meeting.

Assistant coaches for all four cheer divisions are needed as well as assistant coaches for most of the football divisions.

Those interested must be 18 years of age or older and pass a background check which will be done by the DYFL board.

The season is due to start in September.
