Mayor, Dr. Michael Gomez was appointed to the Arizona League of Cities Resolutions Subcommittee.

“It is my pleasure to officially appoint Mayor Gomez to serve on the 2010 Resolutions Committee. The Subcommittee is responsible for reviewing submitted resolutions, which guide our collective city and town efforts at the Legislature once they are adopted,” the appointment said.

Mayor Gomez was selected by his peers to serve on the 2010 Resolutions Subcommittee on July 20, 2009. The League is comprised of 80 cities and towns, which will meet in Tucson to vote on Resolutions presented by the various cities and towns.

Responsibilities of the subcommittee include:

A. Participate in the Subcommittee meeting on August 13 at 11:00 am at the League office to review and evaluate the submitted resolutions for municipal relevancy, duplication and completeness. The subcommittee may make minor editing changes for clarity.

B. Place submitted resolutions into the following categories: Recommend For Adoption, Recommend with Amendments, Critical Municipal Issues, or Not Recommended for Passage.

C. Report its recommendations at the first Resolutions Committee meeting.

The Subcommittee recommendations are important to the resolutions process, in which resolutions are submitted and considered for inclusion in the 2010 legislative program and Municipal Policy Statement.
