The apprehensions occurred at about 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, at a home located near 14th Street and D Avenue.
Agents said they were able to determine the people were illegal immigrants from Mexico. All 41 were taken to the Douglas Border Patrol station, authorities said.
The Douglas Police Department and Border Patrol are partners in a program called Operation Stonegarden. The federally funded program enhances cooperation between the U.S. Border Patrol and other federal, tribal, state and local law enforcement agencies. This year, Operation Stonegarden is providing $9.85 million to 23 agencies in southern Arizona. The funds are intended to assist in performing duties that will enhance their missions along with the federal Department of Homeland Security’s border security mission.
