SIERRA VISTA — Three Cochise County girls were to leave this week for the Cinderella Scholarship Pageant international competition.

Daniella Pando of Willcox, Jasmine Pedroza of Douglas and Renee Romo of Sierra Vista were to travel to Dallas for the event.

The event follows the Arizona state competition, from which contestants were qualified for the Dallas competition. Several girls traveled to Laughlin, Nev., for the state pageant and returned with trophies and other awards. Cochise County girls won the following individual awards in the state competition:

Cinderella tiny tots (ages 2-3 years): Amelie Adney of Sierra Vista was chosen as an alternate to Cinderella tiny tot personality.

Cinderella tots (ages 3-6 years): Daniella Pando of Willcox was crowned the overall Arizona state Cinderella tot winner as well as overall charm girl, ages 7-8; Jasmine Pedroza of Douglas placed in the top 5 as third alternate and alternate charm girl, ages 5-6; Maritza Ja Jimenez of Sierra Vista won overall photogenic tot. Jamie Schaaf and Abigail Crawford, both of Sierra Vista, won special judges’ awards.

Miniature miss (ages 7-9 years): Andrea Bracamonte of Sierra Vista made top 5, first alternate to overall and alternate charm girl, ages 9-10; Renee Romo made top 10 and second alternate talent; and Hallie Haymore and Falcon Carpenter won special judges’ awards.

Cinderella miss (ages 10-12): Randi Walston of Sierra Vista was crowned photogenic miss, placed in the Top 5, and won third alternate to overall and charm girl, ages 11-12; Destiny Valenzuela of Douglas was first alternate to the photogenic title; and Debora Townsend of Sierra Vista was named best vocalist.

Cinderella teen (ages 13-17): Danielle Bracamonte of Sierra Vista was in the top 10 and was crowned the teen talent winner; Savanna Fletcher was chosen as first alternate to the photogenic title and alternate charm girl, ages 15-17;  and Kimberley Nason won a special judges’ award for her talent.

The 27th annual Cochise County Cinderella pageant was held at Buena High School in February. The 2009 Cochise County Cinderella royalty are Jamie Schaaf, tot; Hallie Haymore, mini-miss; Randi Walston, miss; and Danielle Bracamonte, teen.

After the local pageant in February, the delegation began preparing for the Arizona competition in June. They practiced interview and modeling skills and polished talent performances.
