Vehicle rolls over on Highway 90; Driver arrested on Douglas warrant

Heavy rainfall is believed to have contributed to a single-vehicle rollover wreck at Highway 90 and Airport Avenue.

About 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Axel A. Mercado, 19, was driving north on Highway 90 when his 1998 Chevrolet Blazer hydroplaned into the southbound lanes, said Tracy Grady, public information officer for the Sierra Vista Police Department. It slid off the west side of the highway and rolled once.

Mercado was treated for injuries by a Fry Fire District crew. He was then arrested on a warrant out of Douglas over failure to appear on a liquor law violation, Grady said.

Mercado was booked into the county jail.

The wreck did not delay traffic, Grady said.
