The Douglas Junior All-Stars can find a little more solace in their top four finish at the State Little League tournament knowing they lost to what is becoming one of the best All-Star teams in the country.

Mountain View Little League out of Scottsdale, beat Douglas 14-1 in the tournament and went on to win not only its pool but also the state tournament.

From there Mountain View went on to the regional tournament in California where it went 7-0 beating Southern California 13-3 in the semifinals and Hawaii 3-0 in the finals.

Arizona won its pool with a perfect 5-0 record and a two game cushion over the second place team.

The team from Arizona is now at the Junior Little League World Series in Taylor, Michigan.

Arizona played its first game on Monday against Middlebury, Indiana and came away with a 4-0 win.

After Monday’s win the Arizona squad is 19-0 and has outscored its opponents 232-52.

Four other teams, besides Arizona, are in the US pool and five are in the international pool.

Pool play runs through Thursday. The semifinals will take place this Friday and the World Series championship will take place Saturday afternoon.

According to the Little League website the game will be televised on ESPN. Check your local listings for details.

" You actually went out and looked for a story, without one of the coach's having to call you to get the info in the paper. WOW i am surprised!!! It's sad to say, the little league's regular season or the tournament games were never covered by you in the paper. Can you cover more local sports rather than a team that beat us at state, from Scottsdale. Who really cares. "
