Baseball tournament to be held this weekend

The Douglas International Baseball Tournament takes place this weekend.


Games begin Thursday at 4 p.m. at the 8th Street Park.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday games will be played at both the 8th Street and 15th Street Park.

There will be a 9-10 and a 11-12 division. Five teams, including one from Douglas, will compete in the 9-10 division; there will be 10 teams, including two from Douglas, in the 11-12 division.

On Thursday at 4 the Douglas 9-10’s coached by Johnny Pedrego, will play the Agua Prieta Vaqueritos. At 6 the Douglas 11-12 year old B team coached by Michael Lomeli, will play the Agua Prieta Vaqueritos and at 8 p.m. the Douglas A team, coached by Gabriel Ortega, will take on Bachicuy.

Teams from all over Mexico are showing up for the event as well as a few from the U.S.

Opening Ceremonies will be Saturday at 5 p.m. at the 8th Street Park.

Finals are set for 9 and 11:30 A.M. Sunday at both parks.
