Fiestas!

The Douglas Fiestas drew crowds from both sides of the border for the food, fun and carnival.  Above, the China Poblanas are presented  to the crowd, while below left, the Saturday parade drew a crowd.

    " This is concerning the letter written about the China Poblana contest yes there may be alot of favortism with the voting process and there may be other questions about how and where the funds go that sure needs to be addressed but my thoughts are with the comment about the heritege did the people who particapate relize where the "China Poblana" started ? the most common legend has it that the first China was a Hindu Princess that was captures and sold into slavery her name was Mirrha(or Minah) later she converted to the christian faith and was called Catarina De San Juan it was her they called China Poblana the people of her pueblos started coping her way of dress which she decorated with style and ornamentes of her homeland which she was taken from when she was 12-14 yrs of age she was later adopted and then freed from slavery and became a nun she is buried in the wall of a church in mexico Tenupto de la compania in Puebla is known as Tumba de la China Pablana "
