Crews from the Douglas Fire Department responded to what they thought was an apartment fire Sept. 30 in the 800 block of Eighth Street. Upon arrival fire fighters saw no flames but some smoke. The DFD investigated the apartment, found no fire and cleared the scene allowing the occupants to return home and the street to reopen. It is not known what caused the smoke to get inside the residence. Attempts to contact the DFD for more information were unavailable. Saturday evening the DFD had a similar call to a trailer on 21st Street. What fire there was, if any, was put out by the time the DFD arrived.
