Body carrier caught by CBP officers at Douglas Port

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers stopped a drug smuggling attempt when they apprehended a 16-year-old boy trying to smuggle marijuana taped to his body.


A drug smuggling attempt was stopped when this 16-year-old was stopped with marijuana strapped to his body.

On October 1 at about 2:30 p.m. CBP Officers were screening travelers when they observed a 16-year-old boy wearing bulky clothes and walking very oddly. The boy was identified as a U.S citizen and resident of Douglas. The CBP Officers searched the boy and found that he had 2 packages of marijuana taped to his inner thighs. The marijuana had an estimated street value of over $3,700.

CBP Officers seized the marijuana. The boy was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement for questioning and then released to the custody of his immediate family.    

 The Office of Field Operations is responsible for securing our borders at the ports of entry.  U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers’ primary mission is anti-terrorism; they screen all people, vehicles, and goods entering the United States, while facilitating the flow of legitimate trade and travel into and out of the United States.   Their mission also includes carrying out traditional border-related responsibilities, including narcotics interdiction, enforcing immigration law, protecting the nation’s food supply and agriculture industry from pests and diseases, and enforcing trade laws.
