Gun Show Oct. 31 at Fairgrounds


The Cochise County Fairgrounds will be the location for a Gun Show Oct. 31 and Nov.1.

Show hours will be 9-5 on Saturday; 9-4 on Sunday.

This is a chance for people to buy, sell and trade modern and antique guns, ammo, knives and more.

Gun and coin appraisals will also take place.

AYSO games cancelled

Saturday’s AYSO games were cancelled due to the rain that moved through the area.

Games are expected to resume as normal this weekend.

No word when Saturday’s games will be made up.

Douglas Run/Walk just around the corner

The Douglas Run/Walk for the Cure will return this year taking place once again Nov. 26 at the Airport Park.

There will be a 5K competitive run; 1 mile competitive run (ages 9 to 12); 400 meter competitive run (ages 5 to 8); 40 yard run (ages 2 to 4) and a 5K fun walk.

Hickman Family Farms in Buckeye, AZ will be providing a complimentary breakfast that day for all participants. A variety of breakfast burritos will also be prepared by Food City.  Shamrock Farms will be providing breakfast drinks and the local 4-H groups will serve baked goods.

To help with publicity a website that is loaded with information, pictures, previous articles and testimonials from people who have been involved with the event over the years has been formed. The site can be found at douglasturkeytrot.org.

Trip to Apache Gold planned

Hot Foot Plumbing, in conjunction with the Douglas Little League, will be having a trip to the Apache Gold Casino Oct. 17.

The bus will depart from the Douglas Visitors Center at 7 a.m.

Cost is $20 per person and includes a book filled with goodies redeemable at the casino.

Every participant will be given a ticket upon departure. Prizes will be awarded as games are played during the trip.

All proceeds will be donated to the Douglas Little League.

Cochise Buddies basketball clinic Nov. 14

The annual Cochise Buddies basketball clinic is set for Nov. 14 from 12-2 at the Cochise College basketball gym.

The clinic is open to kids in grades K-9. Cost is $10 and each participant will receive a t-shirt, instruction on the fundamentals of basketball from the Cochise College players and staff plus a pass for a free soda and snack from the snack bar during a Cochise College basketball game.

Softball Camp in Sierra Vista Oct. 17-18

A softball camp, similar to the one held in Douglas a while back, will be held in Sierra Vista Oct. 17-18.

The camp, presented by Sports Strategies and the NikeGo Factory Store Grant Program “Get Kids Moving”, will feature professional instruction and interaction with Callista Balko, former 2006-2007 Arizona National Champion plus other Arizona players.The camp will run 8:30 to 12 noon each day at the Roberts Field softball fields.

Cost is $85 per player

    " Ive been going to the socccer games and i really dont think thaats its fair. Theres some team have all this good players and some teams that donnt eve n have good players the persident of league should make it fair foa all teams. You shoulden't let anyone request coaches,i know that thers a couple of coches that keep on getting the same players every year and thats not fair for the kids come on its a game and the kids should have fun. "
