Despite controversy surrounding the Douglas Unified School District over the last few months, voters approved two school district related issues at the November 3 election.

Voters easily passed the request to sell 15th Street School to Chiricahua Community Health Centers to be used for a Pediatric Center of Excellence by a margin of almost 9 to 1, 665 votes to 87.
Voter turnout was low throughout the county, with only 11 percent of registered voters making it to the polls.

It is people like you that we don't need in Douglas. Your kids are probably grown up so you don't care if families with young children have to travel to Phoenix to get adequate health care. This is great for Douglas, there are new jobs that are going to be created. Even if it is a small amount of jobs created it is a start for Douglas. "
