Bulldog football waiting on Santa Rita ruling The Douglas High School football team will learn Friday if they have picked up an extra win this season. Santa Rita High School, who beat Douglas 40-0 Oct. 9 in Tucson is waiting to hear from the Arizona Interscholastic Association if they must forfeit seven games and miss the playoffs because of a rules violation. The Eagles self-reported the violation to the AIA, stating they used an ineligible player for their games from Aug. 28 through Oct.23 this season. Santa Rita is the second-ranked team in Class 4A-II and currently owns an 8-1 record. It will appeal to the AIA at a hearing in Phoenix. Douglas, 6-3, ranked 11th in the current power rankings, is hosting Cholla, 1-8, Friday on Mom and Dad’s night for the DHS seniors. Should the Bulldogs beat Cholla and pick up the forfeited win from Santa Rita the Bulldogs could have enough points to host a first round state playoff game next week.
