Despite controversy surrounding the Douglas Unified School District over the last few months, voters approved two school district related issues at the November 3 election.

In the request to sell bonds for school and athletic field improvements, voters approved the issue by a margin of 443 to 305.

Voters easily passed the request to sell 15th Street School to Chiricahua Community Health Centers to be used for a Pediatric Center of Excellence by a margin of almost 9 to 1, 665 votes to 87.

Voter turnout was low throughout the county, with only 11 percent of registered voters making it to the polls.

It is people like you that we don't need in Douglas. Your kids are probably grown up so you don't care if families with young children have to travel to Phoenix to get adequate health care. This is great for Douglas, there are new jobs that are going to be created. Even if it is a small amount of jobs created it is a start for Douglas. "

" So "Going no-where" if this site offers services to a family out of Elfrida, who is an American Family with little means, then they should be denied as "another breeding ground for our welfare and Lazy Americans Septic Pool? You may need to get the facts first and see that this community needs services like these and not just blame it on one group of people for the use. "

" Well maybe former mayor borane and all his followers should pay for this. there must be some sort of special interest for him. People of this town better wake up. are taxes are gonna go up while there are people in our community in jeopardy of losing their jobs. furthermore i dont think that the items voted for on the las election have been fulfilled. lets do away with the borane influence. lets wake up and pay attention. "
