October 26

DOUGLAS                                                              Dead Body: On 10/26/09 at approximately 9:25 am, hunters in the Portal area came across a deceased subject near one of the campgrounds. The deceased subject was an Undocumented Immigrant, no signs of foul play. The body was transported to the Medical Examiners Office.

ELFRIDA                                                               

Assault:  On 10-26-09 at 6:09 pm, a male subject requested a deputy on N Highway 191 for a past-occurred assault.  The caller stated that Jason Bennett was having a discussion with a female and when the caller attempted to talk to him, Bennett punched him in the mouth.  Bennett is being charged with assault and disorderly.  Investigation continues.  

October 27

DOUGLAS                                                                

Wanted Person:  On 10/27/09 at 9:57 pm, an Undocumented Immigrant, Alejandro Cantu was arrested at the United States Border Patrol Station, located in Douglas on two valid Misdemeanor out of Cochise County Sheriff Office located in Douglas, AZ for original charges of Failure to pay and Failure to appear.

ELFRIDA                                                                  

Theft/Criminal Damage:  Business owners reported that between 10-26 and 10-27, unknown subject(s) forcefully broke into a soft drink vending machine which is located at the Sunsites Car Wash in Sunsites.  Soft drinks and currency were taken. 

October 29

DOUGLAS                                                                   

Wanted Person: On 10/29/09 at 3:04 pm, Gregorio Arias-Hernandez was arrested at the U.S. Border Patrol Station for a felony warrant out of Fairfax County, Virginia for Aggravated Sexual Battery and no bond given.

ELFRIDA                                                                      

Traffic Offense:  10-29-09, Deputies stopped a vehicle for excessive speed on Davis Rd MP 15.  The driver also had a suspended license.  Julio Leon was cited and released.

October 31-November 1

DOUGLAS                             

DUI: Rogelio Pedrego was driving a silver 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer westbound on E. 21st St, 1600 blk, Douglas, AZ, while his Arizona driver’s license was suspended.  A consent to search on Pedrego revealed baggie w/ 1 gram of marijuana.  Investigation revealed Pedrego was driving under the influence of drugs.  

Burglary:  A male subject reported his residence on Sanford Road in Portal had been burglarized. The male advised that forced entry through the front door of the residence. Total cost of damages $2,000.00.

ELFRIDA                                 

Animal Problem:  On 10-31-09 at approximately 11:49 am, two feral dogs attacked a man while he attempted to chase the dogs away from his hog which they had attacked.  This incident occurred on Jones Ave in Elfrida.  One of the dogs was put down and the domestic hog had to be put down as well due to its injuries.  The second dog escaped and is described as a black and white shepherd mix.
