BISBEE — The Darryl Chenowth murder trial resumed Monday in Cochise County Superior Court.

His jury trial in Division 3 court started Oct. 23. It is scheduled to conclude on Wednesday, but it could continue into next week.

Chenowth, 52, is charged with first-degree murder of Thomas Rand, 44, and Leonardo Rivera, 20, near his home in McNeal on Jan. 11.

On Thursday, the prosecution rested its case and the defense began presenting some of its evidence. The trial was not in session on Friday.

The defense will call additional witnesses today. It has not yet announced whether or not Chenowth will take the witness stand and testify in the case.

" I would love for some real experts to re-examine the evidence and re-open the case. this was brushed under the carpet so quickly. they failed to see the truth and instead got hung up on the politics of the incident. what has our world come to? If he were an Illegal alien claiming self defense, or a Navajo, or if hey would have drug tested a sample of his hair and saw that he was a junkie then the virdict would without a doubt be guilty. Either way, everybody knows he's guilty anyway. I hope his conscience is getting the BEST OF HIM! "

" I am so glad I no longer live in Cochise County. It's my understanding that yesterday Chenowth was found not guilty of all charges. How a jury could find this guy not guilty when two men were shot in the back is beyond me. They had options of 1st degree murder, 2nd degree and manslaughter and Chenowth "walks." Amazing! "
