Jacqueline Ames Corbett, of Douglas, AZ., passed away on October 25, 2009 after an extended illness.


 Jacqueline was born to Francis & Grace Ames in Douglas, Arizona on February 19, 1922.

 She graduated from Loretto High School and attended the University of Arizona and was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.  She was married to J. Knox Corbett until their divorce in 1955.   Jacqueline was an accomplished golfer having won both the El Rio and Tucson Country Clubs Women’s Championships.  She also won the Tucson Women’s Amateur Golf Tournament.  She was President of the Tucson Women’s Golf Association during 1950.  Jacqueline was a past member of the Junior League of Tucson and appeared in the annual “Follies” show on numerous occasions.

 Jackie loved a good game of bridge and was playing the game until the past few months when illness interceded.  She possessed a great sense of humor and appreciated family and people who also saw the funnier side of things. 

Jacqueline was preceded in death by her parents, Francis & Grace Ames, and her brother, Harry F. Ames (Nan).

 She is survived by her two children, Michele Kimble (Bill) and her son J. Knox Corbett III (Sara), three grandchildren, Wesley Kimble, J. Knox Corbett IV and Caroline Corbett Garr (Randy).  She also was the proud great grandmother to four great grandchildren, Hiram S. Corbett II of Tucson, Samantha Garr, Aubrey Garr, and Payton Garr of Eugene, Oregon.  She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

 Jacqueline will be interred in Douglas alongside of her mother and father. 

Funeral Services are pending with Brown-Page Mortuary of Douglas, Arizona .

 Donations may be made in her name to the S. Vincent de Paul Society of Douglas, Arizona.
