Bulldog golfers 17th at CDO tournament

The Douglas High School golf team placed 17th at the CDO Dorado Invitational which was held this past weekend at the Rio Rico Golf Course.


Chandler’s Perry High School won the tournament finishing with a two-day total of 449, CDO was second with 454 and Ironwood Ridge third.

Douglas finished with a two-day total of 518.

Erich Hernandez finished with a score of 128; Luis Rodriguez a 129, Paul Vertrees 130, Gabriel Ortega 132 and Liz Clark a 141.

Last Wednesday the Bulldogs lost to Sahuaro in a dual meet in Douglas.

Sahuaro shot a 168, Douglas a 175.

Rodriguez led Douglas with a 41, Ortega shot a 42, Hernandez, Clark and Martin Valenzuela each shot a 46 and Vertrees a 51.

At the Santa Rita Invitational Oct. 9-10 the Bulldogs placed 15th with a score of 537.

Buena was first with 442, Foothills second with 445 and CDO third with 460.

Vertrees led Douglas with a 129, Clark followed with a 135, Ortega a 136, Ernie Tapia a 141 and Erik and Martin Valenzuela combined for a 139.
