Cochise County Sheriff Dever announces promotion

On Thursday October 29, 2009 Sheriff Larry Dever announced several promotions within the Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Dever said this of the internal changes, “It’s always gratifying to watch talented and enthusiastic people step up to the plate and meet the challenges afforded them through promotion. This is an exciting opportunity for growth for them and the entire organization as well.”


With over 78 years of combined experience between the five employees, it is clear to see that each individual will continue to help strengthen the professionalism of their staff and address the needs of the citizens that we serve.

Marc Denney has been with the Sheriff’s Office since 1990 when he began his career here after serving in the military.  Marc has held several positions within the department to include Deputy, Patrol Sergeant, Investigations Sergeant, Administrative Sergeant, Search and Rescue technical rope rescue team, Special Weapons and Tactics Team in positions to include operator, team leader, Operations Commander and SWAT Team Commander, Lieutenant of Investigations and Patrol, and Deputy Commander. We are proud to announce his promotion from Deputy Commander to Commander of the Sheriff’s Office.

Ken Buckner has been with the Sheriff’s Office since 1991 when he began his career with the Sheriff’s Office. Ken has also held several positions within the Department to include Deputy, Corporal, Sergeant of Patrol, Lieutenant of Benson, Willcox, and Elfrida Districts, as well as Lieutenant in charge of Investigations.  We are proud to announce his promotion from Lieutenant to Deputy Commander of the Sheriff’s Office.

Floyd Gregory has been with the Sheriff’s Office for over nineteen years, coming from a family with a long history in law enforcement and the judicial system. Floyd began his law enforcement career in 1989 with the Sheriff’s Office starting as a Detention Officer and making his way up through the ranks to Deputy, Special Weapons and Tactics Team operator and Team Leader, Corporal, and Sergeant of the Cochise County Border Alliance Group. We are proud to announce his promotion from Sergeant to Lieutenant of the Bisbee and Douglas Patrol Districts.

Anthony Parrish has been with the Sheriff’s Office since 1995 when he left the Douglas Police Department after four years of service.  Tony has been assigned to various positions within this organization from Deputy in four separate patrol districts, and Corporal.  We are pleased to announce his promotion from Master Deputy to Sergeant in the Bisbee Patrol Division.

Luis “Ty” Hernandez has been with the Sheriff’s Office since 2002 where he has been assigned to the position of Deputy in the Douglas Patrol District, then to Detective with the Cochise County Border Alliance Group.  We are pleased to announce his promotion from Detective to Sergeant of the Elfrida Patrol District.
