Hundreds of Douglas residents showed up Thanksgiving Day to support Linda Gomez’ Turkey Trot. The day began with a 40-yard run for the kids (top photo) and ended with the presentation of medals. There were a lot of smiles and Dr. Ed and Linda were there cheering on each participant as they crossed the finish line.  All the money raised from the event will remain in Douglas helping those who are battling this deadly disease.

" I think that this was a great event I hope we are able to hold it next year! My child participated in the Turkey Walk with the NJHS from Huber Middle School and it was a great event. I am saddened to say that the sponsor Mrs. Pain did not even take the time to show up! Also if NJHS would have been registered they would have received shirts. Mrs. Pain couldn't take the time to do that? The students didn't even get credit for walking, which don't get me wrong I think the fact that they did this is great and a good experience for my son, but it would have been better if the sponsor could take the time to support our kids. " Good job Dr. Ed. and Linda! I am happy to know you are involved in our community’s health Care. Health awareness in Douglas is a good example of what I and others want leaders to carry on. Your family is terrific and I wish you all well.
The mayor and his wife should move to Hollywood or Washington D.C. Their actions are comical, showy, and hilarious. "

" I don't understand why people feel the need to express negativity and political opinion in such a great story that has nothing to do with that opinion. I am so proud of the effort put forth by the Gomez family and many others who helped to make this a successful event. I hope this event will continue for years to come. Good Job!! "

" Something nice in Douglas, just don't let Hoyak or Rivera get involved as they will cause malice because they don't like someone or know someone that doesn't like a child. "
