For the second straight year the Douglas Lady Bulldogs are headed to the 4A DII state playoffs. Douglas secured its spot Tuesday night with a 40-32 win over the Catalina Lady Trojans in the DHS gym.

Erika Tapia and Vicky Lara each scored 12 points to lead Douglas in scoring. Gaby Valencia followed with 8 and Aileen Nunez contributed 7.

Douglas had a one to two point lead until the fourth quarter when the Lady Bulldogs used a 13-7 run to power their way to the win.

Tueday was also Mom and Dad's night for six departing seniors and their two managers. Vicky Lara, Vanessa Valdez, Kimberly Fragoso, Gaby Valencia, Erika Tapia, Bryanna Salazar, CJ Teran and Brian Webb were all honored at halftime along with their parents.

Douglas, currently ranked eighth in the power rankings, closes out the regular season Friday at Cholla. Providing the Lady Bulldogs stay where they are in the rankings and not drop, they could host a first round playoff game Tuesday. State playoff brackets will be announced Sunday.
