U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Douglas Station arrested a subject on Saturday with a felony conviction for rape.  The Border Patrol continues protecting the community by keeping unwanted criminals off of our streets.

Agents assigned to the Douglas Station arrested a Mexican male Saturday when it was discovered that he was illegally present in the United States.  Utilizing the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS), records checks revealed that the subject was arrested and convicted in San Diego, California for raping a victim less than 16 years old. The man was found guilty and sentenced to five years probation.

Patrol Agent in Charge Timothy Sullivan said, “The Border Patrol is committed to enhancing the quality of life in the communities that we work and live in.  Using databases like IAFIS enable us to identify criminal aliens and prosecute them before they have an opportunity to affect our way of life or endanger residents of our communities.”

Criminal aliens, including sexual predators and rapist which are violent criminals, are a threat to our families and our communities.  IAFIS is a highly effective tool used to accurately identify and investigate the criminal histories of all apprehended subjects.  The Tucson Sector Border Patrol is committed to working with our communities to enhance their quality of life by removing all types of criminals.

" It’s very convenient to criticize someone from the comfort of your home. But let me ask you this; have YOU ever put your life on the line to keep the community safe? My guess is probably not. I think I can also safely assume that you do not have any children because if you did you would be grateful that at least ONE dangerous rapist was stopped from coming into the community. If you would only hear the real stories that happen to Border Patrol Agents you would probably change your mind, or maybe not because you sound like someone who likes to talk a lot but do little to change what is going on. Many of the good things that BP Agents do unfortunately do not get on the newspaper but they do their job not for the glory but because they actually care about stopping criminals from disturbing your life so that you are able to comfortably trash them from the comfort of your home.

" The good people of Douglas and Agua Prieta should put aside fear and begin to report more of what they about criminal activity to the Sheriff's Office. The "dark side" will contine to "win" and "prosper" until more good people step up to the plate. "

" Dharc do you even live in Douglas? Because if you did I believe that you're idea of Border Patrol present in our community has definitely helped the safety of our town. Imagine if we didn't have the number of agents we have now, this town would be overrun by all kinds of illegal activity. As it is drug smuggling and human smuggling runs rampid here.

If we as a community as well as a nation get behind our law enforcement and assist them in their efforts, we could really make a difference. If we show the smugglers that illegal activity will not be tolerated, they'll move somewhere where its easier to operate.

I'm glad that one of these honest, hard working, only looking for work individuals coming through our area was caught before he could do any harm.

Maybe you should think of the victim and family of the rape he committed. You think they would be as sarcastic in their view of Border Patrol apprehending this POS. "

" Great Job guys.Tonight 10,000 illegals will creep over the border and maybe millions more this year. Theres 600,000 criminal aliens to be deported, playing hide-n-seek in the U.S.And another 20 to 30millions illegals living in the U.S.,but you got one. Great job.Maybe we can give janet another 100 billions dollars and she could get a few more. "

" I seriously doubt if illegal aliens removed from our country have their fingerprints entered into the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Idetification System (IAFIS) Foreigners re-entering the U.S. after they are deported are committing a felony and that crime requires prison time. Those aliens detained by law enforcement officers in the course of their duties could be screened by this system. I suspect that garden variety illegals don't get put into this data base for political reasons. "
