Davis seeks House seat

Ken Davis of Benson has announced his candidacy for a Democratic nomination to the Arizona  State Legislature.

Davis seeks to represent Legislative District 25 in the Arizona House of Representatives along with incumbent Patricia Fleming.

In his announcement, Davis stated, “Our state faces unprecedented fiscal challenges. It is important that we face those challenges sensibly, working together with fellow legislators from  all parties.”

He seeks to bring a spirit of bipartisanship to the fractious situation in Phoenix. Davis said that the future of Arizona is important “not just because my children were raised here  and plan on raising their families here but because I care about the people of Arizona.”

Davis stated that he will “work especially hard to ensure Arizonans have an opportunity for a good  education.”  He also emphasized the need for the legislature to do all that it can to encourage the creation of  jobs that offer decent pay and linked the role of education in bringing high tech jobs to Arizona and especially LD 25.

On the state budget, Davis said that he deeply believes in balanced budgets. He thinks that, with school budgets slashed, state parks closed, and even the capitol on the selling block, cuts have  gone mostly as deep as they can. He seeks solutions that protect education and public safety andpolicies that support middle class and lower income families. He will defend cities and towns from attempts to raid their ability to deliver critical serves. And he will work to protect seniors,  children, and developmentally disabled people from devastating proposals on the part of some of the far right members of the current Legislature.

Davis is planning an energetic campaign across all five counties in the district, from Portal to Nogales to Tonopah. He will be a Clean Elections candidate and will seek support toward that  goal from hundreds of local people. He especially looks forward to meeting voters, hearing their concerns, and working together to solve the challenges we face. Davis is fluent in Spanish and  looks forward to talking to Spanish-speaking constituents in their own language. Ken Davis moved to southern Arizona in 1999 with his family.  He graduated from the  University of Arizona with a bachelor’s degree in political science and is currently seeking a master’s degree in business administration from Western International University.  Mr. Davis  retired from the Air Force in 2007 and currently works at Fort Huachuca.
