BISBEE - The Friends of the Warren Ballpark  is hosting a Copper City Classic Vintage Baseball Tournament, Saturday, April 10 and Sunday, April 11 at Bisbee’s century-old Warren Ballpark.

The gates open Saturday at 11:00 A.M. with the first game starting at 1:00 A.M.  Sunday, the gates open at 9:00 A.M. with the first game getting underway at 10:00 A.M.

Four teams bearing names  from the grand old days, including the Bisbee Bees and the Phoenix Senators will take the field wearing old-style uniforms and tiny fielding gloves to play the game as it was played 140 years ago!

Ticket prices are $10 for a single day and $15 for both days; children age 12 and under are free with an adult ticket.  For detailed information visit www.friendsofwarrenballpark.com, or call 520-432-3813.

During the tournament, the 2010 Copper Kings semi-pro baseball team will be introduced   as well as Bisbee High School’s Honoree Coach Mike Frosco.  This year’s tournament is dedicated to the late Russ Kusmertz, former pitcher for the 1948 – 1949 Bisbee-Douglas Copper Kings.  All proceeds will be used for the renovation of Historic 100 year-old Warren Ballpark.

Bisbee is a popular destination located 90 miles southeast of Tucson.  The city features charming 19th century architecture, a Smithsonian affiliate museum, stellar art galleries, sidewalk cafes and an authentic copper mine tour.  Plan to stay the night and enjoy Bisbee’s old-world charm.  For official tourist information, visitwww.discoverbisbee.com or contact the Bisbee Visitor Center at 520-432-3554.
